 PRESIDENCY

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

In the wee hours of Thursday 13th January, we received the news of the  caretaker vice chairman-nominee of Remo North local government, Taiwo Sonuyi (Boston) was kidnapped by some unknown persons along Ipara-Ajebo road.

Since this unfortunate incident, the police is yet to swing into action as expected and this occurrence is undoubtedly an indication of rising rate of insecurity in the environment. If someone of Taiwo Sonuyi's caliber can be treated in such manner, then this is a threat to students and indigents of the environment. It gives little to hope for in terms of security of lives and properties.

The rate of kidnapping along the Ipara-Ajebo road  is alarming and the police is yet to do anything tangible to abate this ugly menace that has lingered on for more than two years.
Even the vehicle of comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye has also been victimized by these criminals who shot heavily at his car in a kidnap attempt 2years back

We appeal for the immediate intervention of the DCP Abba Kyari IRT leader who is reputable for successes in this regard and humbly challenge the Ogun state commissioner of police to ensure that Mr Taiwo returns safely and the kidnappers are apprehended and brought to book.

We urge students and members of the public in the environs of Remo to be vigilant and observant. Let us all contribute to the efforts of the security agencies and help with any relevant information. Our security and well-being is a collective effort and must not be left as the sole business of the police.

We extend our goodwill to the families to Mr Taiwo Sonuyi's family and associates. We hope he's returned to safety in earnest.
