One person was feared killed while many others were injured as hoodlums clashed on Lagos Island on Monday.
The clash, which disrupted the masquerader festival on the Island, was allegedly caused by some factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the clash, which started on Friday, resulted in one person losing his life and two others injured when it continued on Sunday.
However, the hoodlums continued the fight on Monday in the Oke-Arin area with traders fleeing the area.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, confirmed that two people were injured but said there was no record of death.
He said, “The information I have is that there were issues there at the weekend and two people sustained injuries. We do not have record of any death and the police did not see any corpse.
“The clash is connected to the NURTW issue. The street gangs have links with the union and the warring factions are using them. Three suspects have been arrested. There is increased patrol of the area and the Rapid Response Squad, the task force and other security operatives have been patrolling the area.”
