The governing party's National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has been accused of sabotaging Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode's shot at being a Minister in the yet to be constituted cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The APC leader was called out by a group of young political activists under the Save Lagos Group (SLG) on Tuesday.
The group, led by Comrade Alimi Sulaiman, claimed Tinubu has ascribed to himself, the powers of an 'Alpha and Omega' as far as politics is concerned in Lagos state and in Nigeria at large.
“Tinubu has turned himself to Alpha and Omega of the State nay Nigeria politics, forgetting that only God gives and takes power and no human being can act like God," the group said.
The SLG also maintained that “all the ideas of Tinubu in the political armament of the State and Nigeria was parochial and self serving.
“Ambode is more qualified than Tinubu because Ambode is educationally qualified to hold any position including Minister in the country, because he doesn’t have ‘Chicagogate’ on his educational qualification like Mr. Godfatherism.”
Ambode had lost the All Progressives Congress party's primaries observed ahead of the 2019 gubernatorial election to Sanwo-olu after a faction loyal to Tinubu called the 'Mandate Group' suddenly surfaced and stood against his second-coming as governor of the state.
The immediate Lagos state past governor, pained by the development, quickly held a world press conference where he lampooned the APC leadership and disparaged the reputation of the now governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the party's favourite.
Ambode has since settled with the APC leadership including Sanwo-Olu, but there are people who believe Tinubu still has an axe to grind with him and blocking his ministerial bid might be just the perfect way to deal with the man he (Tinubu) once described as not being a party person.
