Nigerian senators-elect on Monday voted for the leadership of the 9th Assembly.
After the balloting, Yobe State lawmaker, Ahmed Lawan emerged the new Senate President after defeating Ali Ndume with 79 to 28 votes.
Also, APC-backed Delta Central Senator, Ovie Omo-Agege, emerged Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate after thrashing immediate past Senate Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu who joined the race last minute as well as other contenders
