Man Utd star Romelu Lukaku told he can LEAVE by club; Inter and Juventus eyeing transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED striker Romelu Lukaku has reportedly been told by club officials that he is free to leave this summer.

The Belgium international has struggled for game time this season under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Norwegian preferring to play Marcus Rashford as the lone striker.

Lukaku joined Manchester United for £75m in 2017 and looked the part in his first season at the club under Jose Mourinho.

Overall, Lukaku has scored 42 goals in 96 games for the Red Devils, including 28 in the Premier League.

But, according to The Sun , United bosses told Lukaku that they will allow him to move to Serie A should an offer come in.

The striker returned from his holiday in America on Tuesday to speak to Old Trafford officials over his future.

Italian giants Inter Milan are believed to be interested in the Belgian, while Juventus have been linked with a move.

The report suggests Manchester Unitedexecutive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will reject lower offers but could consider Inter players being part of the deal.

Slovakia centre-back Milan Skriniar has been on United’s radar later while Ivan Perisic is another player they have admired.

United will not pay up any of Lukaku’s £225,000-a-week wages on the three years left on his contract and want more than the £75m they paid Everton for the star two years ago.

The striker is yet to hand in a transfer request at United but could be tempted away should the right offer be made.

Italian champions are said to be monitoring Lukaku’s situation but without a permanent boss yet in place, difficulties may arise.

Solksjaer has a huge rebuilding job on his hands in this transfer window and while there is money to spend, the money raised from selling Lukaku could help massively.

The 46-year-old is targeting a right-back, centre-back, central midfielder, right winger and a possible replacement for Lukaku in attack.

Swansea winger Daniel James is expected to become Solskjaer’s first signing with United believed to be close to a £15m deal for the midfielder.

United finished way of the pace in the Premier League last season and with no Champions League football to offer potential signings, it remains to be seen who they end up with.
