The immediate-past Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Dr Najeem Salaam, has been described as a perfect example of genuine adherents of party discipline.
This remark was made by the All Progressives Congress((APC) State Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, in commemoration of the installation of the ex-Speaker as Oluomo of Ejigboland yesterday.
In a statement issued by the Media Consultant to Famodun, Mr Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo on Sunday, the Osun State APC chairman said, the political life of Salaam is worthy of emulation to those old and budding politicians who are targeting excellence in politics and politicking.
The APC state chairman also stated that politicians should learn that it's not advisable for them to fight for their rights without looking back as in a warlike situation, one wins some and loses others.
Famodun recalled that it is on record that the former Speaker does not have any history of political harlotry even when the party decision does not favour his interest.
He enjoined other party chieftains and the youths of APC extraction to learn from the political history of Najeem who served in the State House of Assembly for ten solid years without blemish.
Famodun who noted that the popularity of the immediate-past Speaker is beyond the APC firmament remarked that the assembly of people that graced the occasion of the conferment of the Oluomo on him by the Ogiyan of Ejigboland, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyeyosin, was a testimony to the fact that he is also popular at his place of birth.
According to the APC state chairman, "how Najeem was able to pilot the aircraft of the House as a Speaker without any rancorous or riotous moment was a feat that was only attained through his humility and self-control over love for money.
"Information over the years has shown that money has always been the principal reason the water of some Houses of Assembly has refused to settle for once", he stated.
Famodun hinted that there is no way the history of developmental politics in Osun will be written that the name of Najeem would not feature prominently through his effective and peaceful leadership of the State Assembly for two consecutive terms.
