What is the essence of being friends if one cannot check his bosom ally when misbehaving? Sadly, that was Bakare Taiwo's undoing that cost him his precious life.

We gathered that the deceased had attended a social engagement with his friend-turned-assailant, 28-year-old Oni Olohunwa, on Sunday, May 5, 2019, only for Olohunwa to become excessively drunk and started misbehaving.

Bakare, who was correctly of the thought that his friend's shame was equally his and, to put a check to the nuisance he was making of himself, closed up to him with the aim of talking sense into his head, not realizing that he had transited to another realm.

A hot argument was said to had ensued in the course of Bakare's intercession which was taken as an offence by Olohunwa, who reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Bakare in the chest and back.

Confirming the sad incident in a press release made available to Crimepuzzle, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated that, one of the eye witnesses at the party, Wasiu Raheem, quickly took the victim to Ogijo Police Station, where he reported the incident, on the account of which the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Baba Muhammed, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene and effected the suspect's arrest, even as efforts were made to resuscitate the fatally injured victim.

"He was rushed to a nearby hospital but died while receiving treatment. His corpse has been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu for post mortem examination", the PPRO said .

According to the police image maker, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and prosecution.
