A first year student of University of Portharcourt, studying Chemical Engineering has been found dead. According to reports, this young, beautiful girl with a promising future, committed suicide.
The victim’s name is Hikmat Gbadamosi and she was found dead in her room, yesterday by her best friend. According to her best friend, whose name is undisclosed, the deceased had been struggling with a grave medical condition since birth and the resulting pain sent her into depression.
Reports further say that she consumed two bottles of a poisonous substance on Saturday and was only discovered on Monday after her best friend who noticed her absence, mobilized classmates to her room to know why she didn’t show up in school for a test they had yesterday.
A lot of Nigerians sympathize with the situation… Its comforting to know that the insensitivity of folks has lessened to an extent, life is real for all of us.

A chilling comment from someone identified as @prettykulture_ says “If you’ve never been through depression before don’t come here and say “Nothing in this life can make me kill my self , I can never kill my self . Listen, no one plans to kill them self, when you’re depressed, there’s a spirit controlling your mind.

“And that spirit keeps telling you to kill yourself and be free . Those who killed them self did it to be free not like they planned to.”

Final words of advice come from a user identified as @wisdomcounselin, who says “Depression is the world’s leading killer. We really need to be more kind to people, so they are safe enough to share how depressed they feel with any guilt or judgement.
“I have been there before and I know how it feels. If you ever need to talk with someone if you feel depressed, I am just a DM away.”
