Sadly, 2019 began on a very sad note in the Nigerian entertainment industry as numerous deaths have been recorded so far and now, another actor just joined the list of dead Nollywood actors. More details below.
The Yoruba movie industry and fans of the deceased have received the shocking news of the sudden departure of a veteran actor, Toyese Onifade Oloyo.
Reports say that the actor had been down with stroke for a while and finally gave up the ghost 3 weeks after the long battle. Oloyo a renown drummer left mother earth on the 5th of May, 2019 and was buried according to Islamic rites in Ibadan, Oyo the next day.
It was revealed further that the late actor was the first man to play the Nigerian national anthem and pledge with a Dundun talking drum. Thankfully he will be remembered for this as his name will always be mentioned in Nigeria’s history.

Prince Dammy Eke slumped to his death at a bar located in Rivers State on Sunday, 28th April 2019. His brother confirmed his death via phone call and till now details on the cause of death is yet to be unknown.
Early on Friday, January 4, Yoruba actor, Gbenga “Burger” Akintunde passed away, as reported by Pulse. He was 47-years-old. Exactly 17 days later, it was revealed that a younger actor, Adewale Olanrewaju aka ‘Ishow Larry’ also passed away. The two deaths left a hole in the heart of their families, friends, colleagues and fans with eulogies pouring in on different social media platforms – majorly Facebook and Instagram.
And just exactly a month after Gbenga “Burger” Akintunde’s death, Funmilayo ‘Ijewuru’ Ogunsola passed away on February 4, 2019. She died at the age of 53.
23 days after colleagues began mourning Ijewuru, the industry recorded another death. It was the death of Rotimi Alfred Popoola. Ogun state arm of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners of Nigeria, TAMPAN, announced the death of Popoola, who starred in over 80 movies before his death.
