Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi’s sweat and blood in the colours of Leicester City this season has been rewarded with an inclusion in the Premier League Young Team of the Season.

The combative Nigerian midfielder was an ever present figure for Leicester this season, playing in all 38 matches.

Ndidi has been impressive for the Foxes since his arrival from Genk of Belgium, even pegging himself down as one of the best holding midfield players in the division.

Thought the midfielder was omitted from this season’s PFA team of the year, football statistics experts through their website picked the player in the starting eleven for the best U-22 who did well during the just concluded season.

In a 4-4-2 formation, Ndidi partners his Leicester City teammate James Maddison, while Richarlison (Everton) and Dwight McNeil (Burnley) played as the right and left midfielders respectively.

Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold beat Crystal Palace’ Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the right-back position, while Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Diogo Jota of Wolves started in attack.

Ndidi was the best-rated midfielder ahead of Maddison with an average rating of 7.22.

The Nigeria midfielder made 144 tackles, best by any player in the league this season. He also racked up the third highest interceptions (83).
