How To Make Easy Fingerlickin' Pounded Yam And Eforiro


Pounded yam and Eforiro is a delicacy that originated from Western Nigeria.

 In some Nigerian homes, eating pounded yam was a rare event because of the long process of making it. Which involved boiling the yam and pounding it with a mortar  and pestle which was very strenuous and slow

 Now, this delicacy can be easily prepared due to universally produced yam flour like Semolina, Poundo yam, etc. Now you can make your favorite dish without hassle and back pains, with these easy recipes. 

Pounded yam is a food of choice at traditional events like wedding ceremonies, naming, chieftaincy title awards, and even buffets. 

On the other hand, pounded yam's side piece Eforiro has exceptional health benefits, Eforiro cleans the system, improves sight and aids digestion. 

Here is an easy recipe for making Pounded yam and Eforiro. 

Eforiro

3 bunches spinach

2 lbs beef

1 lb tripe(shaki)

1 lb goat meat

5 medium tomatoes

3 scotch bonnet peppers

1 medium onion

palm oil

3 tablespoons seasoning

2 tablespoons salt

1 tablespoon chili powder

vegetable oil (To Fry)

Spinach

* Wash, season and boil all meats (1 tbp of salt, 2 cubes of maggi, 1 tbps of dry pepper ) and boil till meat is tender.

*Blend tomatoes and scotch bonnet peppers(atarodo) and boil till water dries.

* Wash and blanch your spinach to get rid of excess water and shred.

Put meats and stock into different bowls, fry meat till brown.

* Pour palm oil in a pot and add blended tomatoes and fry.

*Add stock, salt, Maggi, crayfish powder, locust beans and leave to cook for 5 minutes.

*Add fried meats and stir, add chopped spinach and stir inches Leave to simmer for 2 minutes.

Pounded Yam Flour

The easiest way is to use pounded yam flour.

Boil water in a pot. 

Pour pounded yam flour and mix well, until properly done.
