Properties worth millions of Naira were on Wednesday destroyed by fire in Oke-Ado area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the inferno that occurred in the early hours of the day destroyed a magnificent building and others around Oke-Ado market.
Commenting on the development, one of the residents, Olalekan Okikiola said, “The fire begins in the early hours of Wednesday at ile Ojagbusi as a result of an electric cooker that was on when IBEDC restored electricity supply to the area, and this was what caused a spark which led to the fire incident.
“No casualty was recorded but properties worth millions of naira were lost ranging from electrical equipment, furniture’s, house utensils, and cloths, among others”, he said.
Also speaking, one Blessing who was also victim of the fire incident, said all her properties have been engulfed by fire, adding that the only thing left for her was the cloth she was putting on presently.
“I was not at home when the fire started, my children were at home, it took the intervention of some boys in our area to break my door before my children can be rescue from the inferno”, she said.
Blessing added that all her valuables worth huge sums of money were lost in the fire, noting that there was nothing left for her and the children to live on.
She pleaded with the Oyo State government to quickly come into their aids so that some of their properties that were lost into the inferno could be revived.
