Following the judgement of the Cour of Appeal in Sokoto, which nullified the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Zamfara State, which produced Muktar Umar as its governorship candidate in the March 9 guber poll in the state, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said Tuesday that it has put on hold, its earlier decision to present Certificates of Return to Muktar Idris, Governor-elect in Zamfara state as well as State Assembly members-elect.
The commission had earlier scheduled to present Certificate of Return to Governors elect today at their various states, said the zamfara State exercise has been suspended, following the Appeal Court judgement regarding the sponsoring of candidates by the All Progressives Congress APC in the state.
INEC said facebook page that it has now been served with a copy of the court judgment.
“INEC has been served with the judgment of the Court of Appeal Sokoto, concerning the sponsoring of candidates by the APC in Zamfara and is studying same.
“Consequently, the presentation of Certificates of Return for the Zamfara Governorship and State House of Assembly scheduled for Wednesday 27th March 2019 has been suspended”, the Commission said in a statement on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
