The Ogun state command of Vigilante Group of Nigeria under Commander Olanrewaju Nureni have apprehended two alleged robbers while attempting to steal iron roads meant for the construction of the proposed Cargo Airport in Ewekoro local government area of the state.
According to the PRO of the command, Omotolani Adebodun who reveal another successful operation of the command to newsmen this afternoon, she said the culprits were arrested by two of their boys, Ezekiel Salmon and Adeniji Kazeem of Yewa North local government.
The robbers namely Johnson Ogundele, his counterpart, Densi, both above 30years of age and another member of their gang who is still at large were said to have stormed the Ogusi area of Ewekoro with a truck, one AK47 and a motorcycle around 11:00pm on Friday.
Amebo Online Feeds learnt that one of the VGN boys who was on patrol has said to have discovered strange move in the area and immediately alerted other members of the group.
On sighting the VGN members, it was said that when Johnson and Densi immediately cork their gun and were about to shoot when one of the VGN members cut them from behind, and they went into serious battle.
At the end, one of robbers took to his heel with his motorcycle, while his identity could not be ascertain as at the time of filing this report.
Items recovered from them were a truck full of stollen iron rods meant for the construction of the proposed Cargo Airport and a motorcycle.
Urging members of the public, the state commander, Olanrewaju Nureni said, though the robbers have been handed over to the police at Itori for further investigation and prosecution, yet he is very sure that other members shall be apprehended soon.
Olanrewaju assured residents that VGN will not relent in its effort to continually work with other security agencies especially the police to make Ogun state a crime free state.
