The inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the removal of the Benue state commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni.
Owoseni's removal may not be unconnected with the exit of the Benue state House of Assembly speaker, Terkimbir Ikyange, who was removed by 22 of the 30 member-house, the Nation reports.
It was gathered that Owoseni’s office was locked but his secretary and other workers were around.
Some other police officers who were discussing the removal of Owoseni described him as a complete officer and gentleman. Sources also said Owoseni was due to retire this December.
Meanwhile, Amebofeeds previously reported that Ikyange was impeached while Honorable Titus Ubwa has emerged the new speaker.
The political tensions continued to heighten in Benue state on Tuesday, July 24, as 22 out 30 members of the state House of Assembly impeached the speaker of the House, Ikyange, his deputy, James Okefe and the majority leader of the House, Benjamin Adanyi, for alleged abuse of office.
The lawmakers accused the speaker of abuse of office and high-handedness.
