The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights CDHR Ogun in a press statement signed by the chairmam of the association, Comr. Folarin Olayinka and Comr.Akiyode Okikiolu who is the Secretary on Thursday 9th March, 2017 has condemned the incessant extrajudicial killings, looting and unprofessional conducts of the officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, following the killings of another two Nigerians and leaving several others injured at Kobape Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State along Abeokuta Sagamu Expressway yesterday 8th March,2017, the CDHR Ogun considered the incident as a madness that must be stopped
The barbaric situation of yesterday where some personnel of Nigeria Customs Service in a hot chase of a vehicle suspected to be carrying bags of rice along the expressway, killing the driver and another Nigerian at spot calls for utmost concern by humane representatives in Government, the officers in fear of reprisal attack by sympathizers ran away. It would be recalled that just about two weeks ago a massive looting of shops and treasury of some traders at Sango Ota by the officers of the Nigeria Customs Service took place at the middle of the night,it took the wise efforts of the Ogun State Government to manage the unfortunate situation which was capable of breaching peace in the state while the Governor gave assurance of proffering lasting solution to the unpleasant situation
The CDHR unequivocally wish to alert members of the public on the need to see the Nigeria Customs Service as another emerging identified terrorist agency terrorizing the Nigeria people, frustrating human existence, violating Human Rights, out to loot, blood thirsty and on killing mission
We are not inciting the public against lawful agency rather we are tempted to advise Nigerians to be weary of the dreaded identified uniform terrorists in the Nigerian Society just like in the advocacy against a similar characters Boko Haram, Human lives appears to be the cheapest commodity in the NCS stock, Nigerians must resist this madness now, get protected against the oppressors and deploy appropriate mechanisms to fight the uniform robbers in the civil society. If their laziness and corrupt practices has negotiated their ability to protect our borders then hell should be the scointing route for their unholy patrol
Acknowledging the humane position of the Ogun State government over the condemnation of the heinous act, it is pertinent to call on the Federal Government, National Assembly, State Governments, State House of Assembly and Local Governments to join in the call to order of the supposed institution of repute and for the Buhari led Administration to come out clear and tell Nigerians if the promised True change includes the unprecedented extrajudicial killings and looting by the Nigeria Customs Service
The CDHR Ogun however shall mobilize every instrument within the ambit of the law to stop the spontaneous madness by the Nigeria Customs Service while we demand the following from the Nigeria Government
1. The immediate removal of the Unprofessional, retrogressive, Inhumane and lootery supervisor Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service
Col. Hameed Alli (Retd.)
2. That the killers and others in the network of March 8,2017 massacre at Kobape Abeokuta Sagamu Expressway be brought to book
3.That the Nigeria Customs Service Ogun State Command and the FOU should with immediate effect relocate to the Nigeria borders for effectiveness
4. That Nigerians are urged to resist and condemn the evil act by the terrorizing Nigeria Customs Service and consider defense of lives as protection of Right to life
We therefore declare Thursday March 23rd, 2017 as a Dark day of Mass Protest against the Nigeria Customs looting and Extrajudicial killings.
