Beneficiaries across Kebbi State have praised All Progressives Congress chieftain and content creator Adam Fakai for spending N20 million from the proceeds of his content creation on an empowerment programme for 1,000 people.
The beneficiaries include widows, widowers, farmers, artisans, homeless persons and other vulnerable members of the communities.
Fakai, who uses his social media platforms to document development projects and highlight community issues, said the intervention was aimed at addressing some of the immediate needs of people in his community.
Yahanasu Kabir, a widower from Garin Awwal and one of the beneficiaries, described the initiative as unique because it cut across age and gender.
He also commended Fakai for using his platforms to document government projects and programmes at the federal and state levels.
“This is not politics; this is somebody who uses his money to touch lives and at the same time promote government programmes. A lot of us will not know about some of the projects the government is doing, and to surprise you is that he uses his personal money and that is wonderful,” Kabir said.
Another beneficiary, Malam Bala Maigadi from Birnin Tudu, received N20,000 alongside three other members of his family who also received N20,000 each.
He described the support as a moment of joy that would help ease some of their immediate challenges.According to the foundation, the empowerment programme forms part of Fakai’s broader efforts to move beyond social media content creation into direct interventions for vulnerable people.
For more than two years, Fakai has travelled across the country documenting development projects and government programmes, particularly those of the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He visits project sites, takes photographs and videos, and shares the material with his audience, turning his digital platforms into channels for showcasing infrastructure and interventions outside traditional media.
Beneficiaries also praised him for combining advocacy for development with peace promotion and support for the less privileged.
They said the N20 million programme marked a shift from merely telling the stories of people in need to directly supporting some of them.
The chairman of the foundation said its activities had expanded to include philanthropy and peace advocacy, particularly in Kebbi State, while also promoting awareness of government programmes.
He added that the foundation would continue to document development, amplify community concerns and mobilise support for people in need.
