The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 21-year-old man, Ajekunle Olubode, over alleged cable vandalism and robbery at One Accord Community along the Lafenwa-Itele Road axis of the state.
The arrest followed an emergency call received by the security agency at about noon on August 12, 2026, over an alleged ongoing criminal activity within the community.
This was contained in a statement issued by the State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Cmdr. (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations of the agency, Assistant Commander of Corps, Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
According to the statement, the Divisional Officer in charge of the Itele Divisional Headquarters, SC Ogunkunle Oluwagbemiga, immediately mobilised his operatives to the scene after receiving the distress call.
The So-Safe operatives reportedly arrived at the location and apprehended Olubode while he was allegedly carrying out the criminal act.
However, the statement disclosed that the cables had already been vandalised and removed before the operatives arrived at the scene.
During preliminary investigation, the suspect allegedly confessed that the incident was not his first criminal operation at the particular house.
He was said to have admitted to previously stealing other items from the same property, including a pumping machine, before he was eventually apprehended by the security operatives.
Olubode was also alleged to have revealed his method of operation, explaining that he usually monitored houses that had been unoccupied for several days before striking, particularly at night.
According to the suspect's confession, he had been observing the affected house for about three days before his arrest.
Further investigation reportedly revealed that the suspect had customers who were allegedly on standby to purchase items stolen during his criminal operations.
The So-Safe Corps said the arrest reflected its continued commitment to protecting lives and property across Ogun State, while also responding swiftly to distress calls from residents.
The agency subsequently handed the suspect, alongside the recovered exhibits, over to the Itele Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The So-Safe Corps urged residents to remain security-conscious and promptly report suspicious activities within their communities to relevant security agencies.
