Foundation urges grassroots mobilisation, membership registration ahead of 2026 political activities

IJARI, IJEBU ODE, OGUN EAST — The Alhaji Oluwafemi Abdulwasiu Ajirotutu Foundation has declared its unwavering support for Hon. Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu and other candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as political activities intensify ahead of the 2026 elections in Ogun State.

The declaration was made on Monday at a stakeholders’ and empowerment meeting held at the Foundation’s Secretariat in Ijari, Ijebu Ode, where party stakeholders, Foundation members, beneficiaries and supporters from the nine Local Government Areas of Ogun East Senatorial District gathered to deliberate on the political future of the state and the welfare of the people.

The event combined political mobilisation with humanitarian intervention, as the Foundation distributed cash grants and relief materials to hundreds of beneficiaries across various wards in Ogun East.

Speaking at the gathering, Founder and Chairman of the Foundation, Alhaji Oluwafemi Abdulwasiu Ajirotutu, described Hon. Adebutu as a tested political leader with a strong commitment to the welfare and development of the people.

Ajirotutu said Adebutu’s experience, accessibility and dedication to public service made him worthy of the support of the people, adding that the Foundation would continue to identify with initiatives and political movements that, in its view, prioritise the interests of ordinary citizens.

He also expressed confidence in the PDP, describing the party as an organisation with the structure, experience and grassroots presence required to provide what he termed “people-centred leadership” in Ogun State and Nigeria.

According to him, the current socio-economic difficulties facing Nigerians require leaders who understand the realities confronting families, traders, young people, farmers, pensioners and other vulnerable members of society.

Foundation Extends Helping Hand to Vulnerable Residents

Beyond political mobilisation, the meeting provided an opportunity for the Ajirotutu Foundation to strengthen its humanitarian intervention in communities across Ogun East.

Hundreds of beneficiaries received cash assistance and relief materials as part of the Foundation’s efforts to alleviate the impact of economic hardship on households and small businesses.

The beneficiaries included small business operators, widows, elderly citizens and other vulnerable members of the community.

The relief package, according to the organisers, comprised food items, financial assistance and other welfare materials intended to support families and help beneficiaries meet immediate needs.

Ajirotutu explained that the empowerment initiative was driven by the Foundation’s commitment to putting smiles on the faces of people, particularly those experiencing difficult economic circumstances.

He stressed that philanthropy should go beyond occasional gestures, noting that sustainable support for individuals and communities remained essential to improving living standards and promoting dignity.

‘Go Back to Your Wards and Register New Members’

The Foundation Chairman also used the occasion to charge PDP supporters and members of his organisation to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the nine local government areas of Ogun East.

He urged members to return to their respective wards and communities, engage residents, sensitise them on political participation and encourage eligible citizens to register with the party.

“We cannot afford to sit on the fence at this critical time. This is the time for action. Go to your wards. Talk to your people. Register them. Let us work together to ensure total victory for Hon. Adebutu and all PDP candidates,” Ajirotutu said.

He emphasised that victory at the polls would depend largely on the strength of grassroots organisation, urging members to build relationships with voters and ensure that the party’s message reaches communities across the senatorial district.

The philanthropist further linked political leadership with service to humanity, maintaining that those seeking public office must be prepared to make a positive difference in the lives of the people.

“Service to the people is service to God. Leadership is about impact, and the PDP has the capacity, the structure, and the men to deliver good governance to our people,” he stated.

‘Ogun State Deserves Better’

Ajirotutu reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to supporting Adebutu and other PDP candidates, saying the group believes Ogun State can achieve greater development through leadership focused on the welfare of its citizens.

He said the Foundation would continue to mobilise its members and supporters while also sustaining its humanitarian programmes across communities.

“That is why we stand firmly and solidly with Hon. Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu and all our PDP candidates. Ogun State deserves better, and together we will achieve it,” he declared.

The gathering ended with prayers for the success of the PDP, the wellbeing of beneficiaries and the continued peace, unity and progress of Ogun East and Ogun State.

The event further underscored the growing intersection between grassroots political mobilisation and community-based empowerment programmes as political actors and support groups prepare for the next electoral cycle.
