The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Ogun State Chapter, has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting quality healthcare and safeguarding the lives of residents through strategic collaboration with the Ogun State Ambulance & Emergency Services (OGSAES), following a courtesy visit to the agency.

The visit, which was aimed at strengthening partnership between both organizations, focused on increasing public awareness about the importance of emergency medical services and encouraging residents to make effective use of the state's emergency ambulance service whenever urgent medical attention is needed.

During the meeting, representatives of YAN and the management of OGSAES held extensive discussions on the need for continuous public education on emergency response procedures. Both parties emphasized that many lives could be saved if members of the public promptly contacted emergency responders instead of relying solely on private means of transportation during critical medical situations.

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria expressed its readiness to deploy its wide network and platforms across Ogun State to educate residents, particularly young people, on the availability of the state's free emergency medical response service. The organization also pledged to champion awareness campaigns that would encourage citizens to immediately call the OGSAES emergency hotline, 0811 200 0033, whenever emergency medical assistance is required.

Speaking during the visit, members of the YAN delegation commended the management and personnel of the Ogun State Ambulance & Emergency Services for their unwavering dedication, professionalism, and prompt response to emergencies across the state. They noted that the agency has continued to play a vital role in reducing preventable deaths through timely medical interventions and efficient ambulance services.

The delegation described the agency's efforts as a critical component of the state's healthcare delivery system, stressing that increased public awareness would further enhance the effectiveness of its life-saving operations.

In response, the management of OGSAES appreciated the Youth Assembly of Nigeria for the thoughtful visit and its willingness to partner with the agency in promoting emergency medical awareness. The management welcomed the proposed collaboration, expressing optimism that the partnership would significantly improve public knowledge of emergency response services and encourage greater utilization of the ambulance service by residents.

According to the agency, community participation and public education remain essential to ensuring that emergency medical services reach those in need without delay.

Both organizations agreed to work closely on a series of awareness campaigns, community engagements, youth sensitization programmes, and advocacy initiatives designed to educate residents on appropriate actions during medical emergencies.

They also reiterated the importance of saving the OGSAES emergency number, 0811 200 0033, and calling it immediately whenever urgent medical assistance is required, noting that timely intervention can make the difference between life and death.

The courtesy visit ended with a shared commitment to building a safer and healthier Ogun State through sustained public enlightenment and strengthened collaboration in emergency healthcare delivery.
