Residents of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area in Ogun State are set to witness another phase of infrastructural transformation as the Executive Chairman of the council, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has announced plans to commission a fresh batch of developmental projects across the local government before the end of August 2026.
The chairman made the disclosure during a meeting with community leaders held at his office in Owode-Egba on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, where he reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improving the living standards of residents through people-centred projects.
According to Amb. Ogunsola, the projects are strategically spread across the twelve wards of the local government and include the construction of modern classroom blocks, market facilities, asphalt roads and motorised boreholes designed to enhance education, boost commerce, improve road connectivity and provide access to potable water.
He described the forthcoming commissioning as another milestone in his administration's drive to deliver impactful governance and sustainable development to communities within the council area.
Speaking on the achievements recorded under his leadership, the council boss expressed delight over the growing national and international recognition being accorded to Obafemi Owode Local Government. He noted that the recent international honour presented to the council by the Canadian Government during the Pan-African Drum Festival held in Brampton, Ontario, has further elevated the profile of the local government on the global stage.
Amb. Ogunsola dedicated the prestigious award to the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Public Works, Engr. Babatunde Adesina, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, whom he acknowledged as mentors, as well as leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their unwavering support and guidance.
The chairman reiterated his determination to continue projecting the local government positively and called on indigenes of Obafemi Owode living in the diaspora to partner with the council by investing in various sectors of the local economy.
He maintained that increased private sector participation would accelerate economic growth, create employment opportunities and improve the overall wellbeing of residents.
Amb. Ogunsola also commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for providing the enabling environment that has encouraged public-private partnerships across the state, noting that the governor's developmental policies have significantly boosted investment inflows into Obafemi Owode Local Government.
Looking ahead, the council chairman assured residents that his administration would not relent in its efforts to deliver more dividends of democracy. He disclosed that immediately after the rainy season, the local government would commence the grading of community roads across all the twelve wards to improve accessibility and ease transportation.
He urged residents to continue supporting the administration's developmental agenda, stressing that the council remains committed to inclusive governance, infrastructural renewal and policies that will enhance the socio-economic development of Obafemi Owode Local Government.
Community leaders present at the meeting welcomed the announcement, describing the planned projects as timely interventions that would improve public infrastructure and stimulate economic activities across the council area. They also pledged their continued support for initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life of the people.
