According to Sunday World, Adetshina appeared before the Cape Town Regional Court on June 9 following her arrest and was released on warning pending a hearing next month.
South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs claimed investigations confirmed that she and her son have no lawful residence permits. Immigration officials also alleged she remained in the country illegally after being declared a prohibited person in December 2024.
The court ordered Adetshina to remain at her current address and notify authorities of any changes while her case continues.
Adetshina withdrew from the 2024 Miss South Africa pageant amid a citizenship controversy before representing Nigeria at Miss Universe, where she finished as first runner-up. South African authorities have continued to challenge her immigration status.
