Gunmen have attacked Government Day Secondary School in Lassa town, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, abducting an unspecified number of students who were writing the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) organised by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
The assailants invaded the school on Monday morning. One teacher was reportedly killed during the attack, while another sustained injuries.
Borno State Police spokesperson Nahum Daso confirmed the incident, adding that some students are still missing.
The attack comes amid ongoing security challenges in parts of the North-East, with details of the abduction still unfolding as security agencies respond.
