Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has declared that his administration will never enter into any peace agreement with terrorists and bandits operating in the state, insisting that the government remains far stronger than criminal elements.
The governor made the remarks during an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, reaffirming his hard-line position against dialogue with armed groups responsible for killings, kidnappings, and other violent crimes.
Lawal stated that brokering peace deals with bandits is considered an offence in Zamfara State and stressed that his government remains vehemently opposed to such arrangements.
He noted that recent truce efforts by some individuals in parts of the state were carried out independently and do not represent the position of the state government.
The governor argued that previous negotiations with bandits have failed to deliver lasting peace and often emboldened the criminals.
He reiterated that his administration will continue to rely on military operations and law enforcement rather than dialogue.
“Seeking a truce with bandits is not my opinion and never will be,” Lawal declared.
