Some students were injured on Wednesday after suspected armed robbers attacked the female hostel of the Numan campus of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola.
Reports indicate that the attackers invaded the hostel in the morning with guns and cutlasses, carting away 15 phones and other belongings of the students.
During the attack, one of the students reportedly fainted, while others sustained injuries trying to resist the robbers.
The students were said to have blamed the incident on the alleged negligence of the school authorities regarding their welfare and conditions in the hostel.
Albert Matila, the polytechnic’s information officer, reportedly confirmed the incident, but declined to give further details.
He, however, assured that the polytechnic rector and other management officials would visit the affected students and evaluate their situation.
As of the time of filing this report, the Adamawa state police command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
