The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has cleared five additional aspirants seeking tickets for the State House of Assembly elections following a review by the party’s Screening Appeal Committee.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the State Organising Secretary of the party, Mr. Yemi Adelani, who disclosed that the committee had completed its assignment and submitted its report after reviewing petitions filed by aspirants who were initially disqualified during the screening exercise.
According to the statement, eight aspirants had earlier failed to secure clearance from the screening committee.

However, after what the party described as a “critical review” of the appeals submitted, five of the affected aspirants were found to have presented convincing grounds and were subsequently cleared to participate in the forthcoming party primaries.

The cleared aspirants include Kelani Abolaji Jelili for Ado-Odo/Ota Constituency I, Sijuade Ayotomiwa Taofeek for Ijebu North Constituency I, Temitope Kasali for Ijebu East Constituency, Iroko Oluwatosin Michael for Ikenne Constituency, and Olutayo Oluwadamilare for Remo North Constituency.

Party sources said the decision reflects the APC leadership’s commitment to ensuring fairness, transparency, and internal democracy in the build-up to the primaries ahead of the next legislative elections in Ogun State.

Political observers within the state noted that the appeal process has helped calm tensions among supporters of affected aspirants, many of whom had expressed concerns over the earlier disqualifications. The clearance of the five contenders is expected to further intensify political activities across the affected constituencies as aspirants continue consultations and mobilization ahead of the party primaries.

The APC leadership in Ogun State reiterated its resolve to conduct a credible and peaceful primary election process while urging party members and supporters to remain united and committed to the overall success of the party.

The statement was electronically signed by Mr. Yemi Adelani, State Organising Secretary of the APC in Ogun State.
