Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has formally submitted his governorship nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2027 Kebbi State governorship election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by Mohammed Bello Doka, Malami’s Special Assistant on Media.According to the statement, the forms were submitted at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja in compliance with the party’s guidelines.

Malami’s decision to join the governorship race has sparked significant political reactions across Kebbi State.

The former minister has already commenced consultations across the 21 local government areas of the state to build support for his ambition.

He had earlier pledged to focus on rebuilding Kebbi State with priority on security, agriculture, infrastructure, education, and healthcare if elected.

Malami cited worsening insecurity, economic challenges, and governance issues as key reasons for his decision to contest, describing the ADC as a platform committed to accountability, inclusion, and development.
