As Ogun State marks 50 years since its creation, the Central Coordinate Movement (CCM) has congratulated the government and people of the state, describing the golden jubilee as a moment of reflection, unity, and renewed commitment to good governance.
The Chairman of the Central Coordinate Movement, Alhaji Taiwo Elewide, popularly known as Big Champion and the Akile of Egbaland, extended warm felicitations to Ogun State citizens, applauding their resilience, enterprise, and collective contributions to the growth of the state over the past five decades.
In a goodwill message to commemorate the anniversary, Alhaji Elewide hailed the vision and sacrifices of past leaders whose efforts laid the foundation for the state’s development, while also commending the current leadership for sustaining governance and development initiatives amid evolving socio-economic challenges.
“Ogun State at 50 is not just a celebration of years, but a celebration of identity, endurance, and progress. Our state has continued to stand as a beacon of excellence, innovation, and cultural pride,” he said.
The CCM chairman acknowledged the achievements recorded in critical sectors such as education, infrastructure, industrial growth, agriculture, and human capital development, noting that Ogun State’s strategic position and industrious population have continued to attract investment and opportunities.
While celebrating past and present accomplishments, Alhaji Elewide emphasized the need for stronger and more inclusive governance in the years ahead. He urged leaders at all levels to prioritise transparency, accountability, youth empowerment, and people-centred policies that will translate development into tangible benefits for all citizens.
According to him, the future of Ogun State depends on visionary leadership, citizen participation, and a collective commitment to justice, equity, and sustainable development.
He also called on residents, community leaders, and political stakeholders to maintain peace and unity, stressing that progress can only thrive in an atmosphere of harmony and shared responsibility.
“As we look ahead to the next 50 years, let us build an Ogun State that works for everyone—where good governance is not a promise but a practice, and where every citizen feels the impact of development,” Alhaji Elewide added.
The Central Coordinate Movement reaffirmed its dedication to supporting initiatives that promote democratic values, social inclusion, and grassroots development, pledging continued engagement with stakeholders to advance the socio-political growth of the state.
Ogun State was created on February 3, 1976, and has since produced notable leaders, scholars, entrepreneurs, and cultural icons who have contributed significantly to national development. The 50th anniversary celebrations serve as a milestone to honour the past, assess the present, and chart a progressive course for the future.
