The Executive Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Adesina Adisa, has joined residents and stakeholders across Ogun State in celebrating the state’s 50th anniversary, describing the milestone as a testament to resilience, unity, and sustained development.
Speaking during commemorative activities marking the golden jubilee, Hon. Adisa said the creation of Ogun State five decades ago laid a strong foundation for political stability, educational advancement, and socio-economic growth, not only within the state but across Nigeria. He noted that Ogun State has consistently played a significant role in national development, producing notable leaders and serving as a hub for industry and innovation.
The council boss emphasized Ewekoro Local Government’s strategic importance to the state’s economic growth, particularly through its abundant limestone deposits, which support cement production and other mineral resources vital to industrial expansion. According to him, the local government remains a key contributor to Ogun’s status as one of Nigeria’s leading industrial destinations.
He also highlighted Ewekoro’s growing role in agricultural production and food security, citing the cultivation of rice, cassava, cocoa, maize, sugarcane, and other crops that sustain local livelihoods and boost the state’s economy. He described the area as an emerging “heartbeat” of Ogun State, with steady progress in infrastructure development, education, and human capital growth.
Hon. Adisa commended the Ogun State Governor, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, CON, for what he called visionary leadership and a strong industrialization drive that has continued to position Ogun as a safe haven for investors and residents alike. He praised the administration’s efforts in improving infrastructure, promoting enterprise, and strengthening security across the state.
The chairman further acknowledged the collective efforts of traditional rulers, political leaders, security agencies, community and religious leaders, market associations, youths, transport workers, and civil servants in sustaining peace and development in Ogun State over the years.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the state’s development agenda, Hon. Adisa urged residents of Ewekoro and Ogun State at large to remain united and dedicated to building on the achievements of the past five decades.
The anniversary celebration featured goodwill messages from stakeholders, prayers for continued peace and prosperity, and renewed calls for unity and collaboration as Ogun State embarks on its next half-century of growth and transformation.
