The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has arrested a 22-year-old suspected cannabis dealer, Azeez Amuzat Ogo-Oluwa, in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest was confirmed in a press statement issued by the State Commander of the Corps, (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, and made available to journalists by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander of Corps (ACC) Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
According to the statement, the arrest occurred on January 28, 2026, during a routine surveillance operation ordered by the State Commander. The Director of Anti-Arms Smuggling, ACC Abdulkareem Abdulrazak, had mobilized operatives to intensify patrols across strategic locations in the state as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime.
The patrol team, led by SC Akinola Olanrewaju and SC Balogun Rotimi, was monitoring the Koko–Akojaga Road under Ilashe town in Ipokia at about 12:27 p.m. when they noticed a young man riding a motorcycle in a suspicious and unsettled manner.
Dr. Ganzallo explained that the conduct of the suspect drew the attention of the operatives, who immediately flagged down the motorcycle for a stop-and-search operation.
“Upon searching the bag carried by the suspect, who identified himself as a carpenter, our operatives discovered 85 wraps of suspected cannabis,” the commander stated.
The suspect, identified as Azeez Amuzat Ogo-Oluwa, was promptly arrested and, alongside the recovered exhibits, handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Idiroko Special Area Command, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
While reiterating the Corps’ commitment to maintaining law and order, Dr. Ganzallo warned residents against engaging in criminal activities, particularly drug-related offences.
“Hard drugs are injurious to the body and constitute a crime against the nation. The eagle eyes of the agency are watching, and anyone caught will be arrested and handed over to the appropriate authority,” he warned.
He also urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would aid in keeping communities safe.
The So-Safe Corps reaffirmed its resolve to continue regular patrols and surveillance operations across Ogun State in line with its mandate of supporting internal security and promoting peaceful coexistence.
