Sagamu Local Government has ordered the immediate suspension of all construction activities at the Temidire Alaba Market project site in Ogijo, citing serious breaches of contractual terms by the project developer, Eliezer Investment Limited.
The directive, which takes immediate effect, followed an extensive internal review by the Local Government that uncovered multiple violations of the agreement governing the development of the market project. According to the Local Government, the developer deviated significantly from the approved project framework and operational model earlier agreed upon.
Key concerns raised include failure to comply with mandatory regulatory procedures, disregard for established approval and allocation processes, and actions that contradict the contractual provisions binding both parties. These lapses, officials noted, undermine the integrity and orderly execution of the project.
In addition, the Local Government disclosed that it received credible information suggesting that the project is being financed in a manner inconsistent with earlier representations made by the developer. Eliezer Investment Limited had previously assured the Local Government of its financial readiness to fully deliver the project, an assurance now being questioned in light of emerging facts.
A statement issued by the Management of Sagamu Local Government emphasized that the suspension is necessary to safeguard public interest and prevent further irregularities. “All construction activities at the site are to remain suspended until all outstanding issues are satisfactorily resolved and full compliance with the terms of the agreement is restored,” the statement read.
The Local Government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, due process, and sustainable development, stressing that market and public infrastructure projects must be executed strictly in line with approved guidelines and contractual obligations.
Residents and stakeholders have been urged to remain calm as the authorities work to address the issues surrounding the project. The Local Government assured the public that further updates will be communicated as developments unfold.
