The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) has commended the Ogun State Government for its continued investment in infrastructure and youth engagement, following the commissioning of Obalende Road and Osinubi New Road in Ijebu-Ode by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The commissioning ceremony, held in Ijebu-Ode, witnessed a massive turnout of students and residents. Representing Ogun State students at the event was the National President of NAOSS, Aàrẹ Oluwafemi Ajayi (FM Castro), who described the newly commissioned roads as timely and impactful for the student community.
Speaking during a brief interaction with the Governor, Ajayi noted that the roads will significantly ease movement for students, particularly those commuting daily to schools and campuses within the axis. According to him, improved road access will reduce stress, save time, and enhance academic productivity for thousands of Ogun students.
In a moment that energized the gathering, Governor Abiodun joined Ogun students and members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee, Ogun Axis, in chanting traditional “Aluta” solidarity songs. The gesture drew loud cheers and was widely applauded as a strong symbol of the Governor’s connection with young people and his appreciation of student activism.
Ajayi also congratulated the Governor on his recent conferment of an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun, and praised the successful handing over of the institution by the Federal Government. He described the development as a historic milestone and a source of pride for Ogun State.
Addressing the students at the event, Governor Abiodun expressed delight at the large turnout and commended Ogun students for their unity and organization. He reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to continue supporting NAOSS National and student development initiatives across the state.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor and the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology also interacted with the students, appreciating their discipline, coordination, and commitment to the progress of Ogun State.
In a message to Ogun State students nationwide, the NAOSS National President urged them to remain confident, focused, and undistracted, assuring them that the association is moving with a clear vision and measurable results.
“The dark days are behind us. Our future is bright and secure,” Ajayi said.
He further expressed the appreciation of the entire NAOSS National Executive Council to students, senators, and stakeholders across the country for their trust and continued support, emphasizing that the current achievements mark only the beginning of a greater journey.
“With full confidence in the mandate you have given me, I remain committed to leading NAOSS National to greater heights and protecting the pride of every Ogun student,” he added.
The event once again highlighted the growing collaboration between the Ogun State Government and the student community, reinforcing a shared commitment to development, inclusion, and a stronger future for education in the state.
