The Ogun State Police Command has recorded another success in its ongoing fight against crime with the recovery of a stolen Toyota RAV4 vehicle and its return to the rightful owner in Abeokuta.
The silver-coloured Toyota RAV4 Jeep was recovered on January 17, 2026, by operatives of the Obantoko Divisional Surveillance Team during a routine patrol at the Somorin Area of Obantoko. The vehicle was reportedly found abandoned under suspicious circumstances, prompting the officers to secure it and commence immediate investigations.
Following its recovery, the vehicle was taken to the Obantoko Police Station, where efforts were intensified to trace its owner. Information about the recovered vehicle was disseminated, while relevant checks were carried out to ensure transparency and due process.
Subsequently, the owner of the vehicle came forward and, after presenting and verifying all necessary documents, was confirmed as the lawful owner. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Obantoko Division, thereafter formally handed over the vehicle, along with its keys and documents, to the relieved owner.
Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, praised the Obantoko Divisional Surveillance Team for their professionalism, vigilance, and swift response. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and urged officers across the state to sustain high standards of dedication, intelligence-led patrols, and community policing in order to safeguard lives and property.
The Ogun State Police Command also encouraged members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information, assuring residents that the Command remains resolute in ensuring the safety and security of all.
The recovered vehicle incident further underscores the Command’s determination to curb crime and strengthen public confidence in policing across Ogun State.
