This marked a significant step toward improving emergency response awareness in Ogun State as the IBD Foundation team, in collaboration with ParakletHealth Academy, paid a strategic advocacy visit to Ogun State House Of Assembly.
The purpose of the meeting was to formally present a comprehensive proposal on the implementation of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training across public and private schools in Ogun State. This initiative is aimed at equipping students, teachers, and school administrators with essential life-saving skills that can make the difference between life and death during medical emergencies.
Led by Chief Mrs. Judith Omolara Egungbohun, the delegation also extended the engagement to the Office of the Rt. Honourable Oludaisi Elemide, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, as well as the Office of the Chairman, House Committee on Health and Education, represented by Hon. Wahab Haruna Abiodun Egungbohun. Discussions centered on policy support, inter ministerial collaboration, and the practical framework for rolling out the training programme statewide.
During the meetings, the team highlighted the urgent need for early emergency response education in schools, stressing that empowering young people with basic first aid, CPR, and emergency response knowledge will significantly reduce preventable deaths and improve community safety.
Hon. Wahab Haruna Egungbohun commended the initiative and expressed strong support for programmes that promote health awareness and safety education, assuring the delegation of legislative backing and collaboration with the Honourable Commissioners for Education and Health to ensure successful implementation.
The IBD Foundation and ParakletHealth Academy reaffirmed their commitment to partnering with government institutions, stakeholders, and school authorities to deliver sustainable, impactful training that will create a safer and more prepared Ogun State.
