The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, has described the commissioning of the newly reconstructed Aiyepe Road, Sagamu, as a historic milestone that symbolizes renewed hope, connectivity, and development for the people of Sagamu and its neighbouring communities.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony held on January 22, 2026, Ogbeni Odulate expressed profound appreciation to the Ogun State Governor for reconstructing the long-abandoned road, which had been neglected for nearly three decades despite its strategic importance as a major link between Sagamu and Aiyepe in Odogbolu Local Government Area.
According to the Sagamu council boss, the completion of the road has brought immense relief to residents, traders, commuters, and motorists who have endured years of hardship due to the deplorable state of the road. He noted that the project stands as a testament to purposeful leadership and people-oriented governance.
Ogbeni Odulate described the reconstruction of Aiyepe Road, alongside other major roads such as Oba Erinwole Road, Hospital Road in Ogijo, Ajegunle Road, Surulere Road, and Major Thompson Road, as clear evidence of the Governor’s visionary leadership and the far-reaching impact of the ISEYA agenda across Ogun State.
He further emphasized that development under the current administration is visible, measurable, and transformative, stressing that Ogun State is no longer the same as it was before the advent of the present government.
“If we don’t blow our trumpet, nobody will blow it for us,” he said, adding that constructive criticism remains a healthy part of democracy, but the tangible progress recorded across the state speaks louder than unfounded criticism.
The Sagamu Local Government Chairman also highlighted efforts made at the grassroots level to complement the state government’s achievements. He disclosed that his administration, inspired by the Governor’s leadership, has successfully constructed Cinema Road, Sawmill Road, Sode Road, and the 5-kilometre Awosanya Road, paved with heavy interlocking stones — a first of its kind in the area — to further strengthen infrastructural development in Sagamu.
Using Yoruba proverbs to underscore his message, Ogbeni Odulate affirmed that the Governor has not only crossed the “T’s” but is now diligently dotting the “I’s,” ensuring that no loose ends are left in governance.
He declared that the current administration has already recorded resounding success and expressed pride in being part of the developmental journey unfolding in Ogun State.
In a significant political undertone, the Sagamu Chairman revealed that the nine Local Government Chairmen of Ogun East, alongside the entire people of the senatorial district, are united in calling on the Governor to represent them at the National Assembly as Senator, noting that Ogun East needs his experience, vision, and proven leadership to sustain development.
The commissioning ceremony attracted government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, party faithful, and residents, all of whom lauded the project as a landmark achievement that will enhance economic activities and improve the quality of life in the region.
Ogbeni Odulate concluded by reaffirming Sagamu Local Government’s commitment to partnering with the state government to deliver sustainable development to the people.
