The National Executive Council (NEC) of the AFROGRAMS Abeokuta Old Students’ Association (OSA) has announced the resignation of its National General Secretary, Dr. Babatunde Soaga, citing health-related concerns.
According to a statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer, Engr. Tajudeen Oketokun, the resignation notice was received by the NEC in the early hours of Saturday, January 3, 2026. Dr. Soaga explained that his health condition could adversely affect his ability to effectively discharge the demanding duties and responsibilities of his office.
Dr. Soaga expressed gratitude to the NEC and the entire Association for the opportunity to serve, noting that he had contributed in various capacities over the years. He also reassured members of his continued support for the Association despite stepping down from office.
Following the development, the NEC has directed the Assistant National General Secretary, Mr. Kamorudeen Adegbokiki, to assume office as Acting National General Secretary, pending the appointment of a substantive office holder in line with the Association’s constitution.
Mr. Adegbokiki, a respected administrator and public servant, is a proud member of Club 940, one of the notable alumni groups within the AFROGRAMS OSA. Known for his administrative competence and commitment to service, his elevation is widely seen as a move that ensures continuity and stability within the Association’s secretariat.
As Acting National General Secretary, Mr. Adegbokiki will oversee all secretariat operations and official correspondence of the Association. Members have been advised that all matters relating to the Secretariat should henceforth be routed through his office.
The National President of the Association, Barrister Taofeek ‘Bola’ Shittu, assured members of the NEC’s continued dedication to selfless service and the overall progress of the Association and its Alma Mater.
The AFROGRAMS Abeokuta OSA extended its goodwill to Dr. Soaga, wishing him a speedy recovery, while also expressing confidence in Mr. Adegbokiki’s capacity to effectively manage the responsibilities of his new role in an acting capacity.
