The Ogun State Commissioner for Transportation, Engr Olugbenga Dairo, has revealed plans of the State's transportation infrastructure for year 2026, with a focus on public transportation.
Speaking with the media in his office at Oke- Mosan Abeokuta, Dairo outlined key projects aimed at enhancing connectivity, boosting economic activities and improving the overall transportation network in the State.
According to him, the State government would be developing two railway stations along the Lagos-Ibadan railway corridor, one at Ijoko and another at Kajola, a project aimed to improve passenger and cargo services and stimulate economic growth in the region.
Revealing further, the Commissioner announced plans to establish multi-dimensional modern bus terminals in Abeokuta, in partnership with the federal government. The terminals would consolidate various Parks and Garages, reducing congestion and improving transportation services for passengers.
Other strategic projects highlighted by Dairo included the Gateway International Airport, Olokola Deep Sea Port and Kajola Inland Dry Port. The Airport is currently undergoing stabilisation, with new road construction and infrastructure development underway.
The Commissioner emphasised the State government's commitment to completing ongoing projects and initiating new ones to boost economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents.
The projects in the spotlight are expected to create jobs, stimulate economic activities and position Ogun State as a major transportation hub in Nigeria.
