In the spirit of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Ogun State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon. Emmanuel Adebola Sofela, has distributed rice and cash gifts to residents across six local governments in Ogun Central Senatorial District.

The festive gesture, aimed at easing economic pressure and sharing joy with the people during the yuletide season, cut across Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Obafemi-Owode, Odeda, Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas of the state.

The gesture is not politically motivated but a yearly culture from Emmanuel Adebola Foundation to meet the needs of his people, most especially privileges and widows across Ogun state and beyond.

The distribution exercise witnessed the presentation of food items, particularly bags of rice, alongside cash gifts to beneficiaries at the grassroots. The items were formally handed over to the ward chairmen and Local Government Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who were saddled with the responsibility of ensuring fair and effective distribution to party members and residents within their respective areas.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Sofela described the initiative as part of his commitment to the welfare of the people and his desire to ensure that families across Ogun Central share in the joy of the season.

“Christmas and New Year are periods of love, sharing and reflection. This gesture is a modest way of giving back to the people and supporting them, especially at a time when many households are facing economic challenges,” he said.

The commissioner emphasized that the distribution was not politically motivated but driven by compassion and a sense of responsibility to the people, noting that leadership must always be people-oriented.

APC leaders across the benefiting local governments commended Hon. Sofela for the thoughtful intervention, describing it as timely and impactful. They assured that the items would be equitably distributed to reach the intended beneficiaries at the grassroots.

Some beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude for the gesture, described it as a relief during the festive period, noting that the food items and cash support would go a long way in helping their families celebrate the season with joy.

Hon. Sofela also used the occasion to urge residents of Ogun State to embrace peace, unity and continued support for the current administration, while wishing them a prosperous and fulfilling New Year.

The distribution exercise further underscores the commissioner’s commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance, as well as his continued engagement with the people of Ogun Central.
