A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Alhaji Yisa Ismaila Adebayo, popularly known as OMO-ADE, has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for approving the career advancement of Graduate Primary School Teachers in the Tutor Cadre from Grade Level (GL) 16 to GL 17.
OMO-ADE described the approval as a progressive and timely decision that would boost teachers’ morale and further strengthen the foundation of primary education in the state.
The development was contained in an official statement signed by the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, who explained that the decision was aimed at addressing long-standing stagnation at the peak of the Tutor Cadre and enhancing motivation among teachers for improved service delivery.
According to the Head of Service, Governor Abiodun also approved a consolidated salary structure for Head-Teacher General, a move that effectively upgrades their professional status and welfare.
Mr. Onasanya noted that the policy decision followed a comprehensive review of existing career progression frameworks within the primary education system and was designed to improve learning outcomes across public primary schools in the state.
“The governor’s approval underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and supporting the workforce that drives it,” he said.
He added that the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has been directed to commence immediate implementation of the policy to ensure that eligible officers benefit without delay.
Reacting to the development, OMO-ADE applauded Governor Abiodun for what he described as “responsive and people-oriented leadership,” stressing that teachers remain the backbone of any functional education system.
“This approval is a clear demonstration of Governor Abiodun’s resolve to reward diligence, professionalism and commitment in the public service. It will no doubt reinvigorate teachers and translate into better learning outcomes for pupils,” he said.
Mr. Onasanya further stated that the policy aligns with the ISEYA pillar of the Abiodun administration, reaffirming Ogun State’s position as the education hub of the nation.
He emphasized that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration remains committed to implementing progressive policies that enhance educational development, while urging teachers across the state to reciprocate the gesture with renewed dedication to efficient service delivery.
The approval has been widely welcomed by stakeholders in the education sector, who see it as a significant step toward improving teacher welfare and sustaining quality education at the foundational level in Ogun State.
