The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Thursday celebrated two of its long-serving staff members—Internal Auditor, Alhaji Yusuf Tajudeen Abayomi, and Secretariat Assistant, Mrs. Dorcas Fadipe—at a colourful retirement ceremony held in the Board’s Conference Room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The event, attended by Board members, directors, staff, friends and family, highlighted decades of commitment, professionalism and selfless service rendered by the celebrants.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ogun SUBEB, Evang. Ifede Olalekan, applauded Alhaji Abayomi for his steadfast dedication to ensuring financial discipline within the Board. He noted that the retiring auditor played a pivotal role in strengthening compliance with financial regulations and maintaining the Board’s impressive record during external audits. The Chairman urged both retirees to remain active even after leaving service, while encouraging staff to emulate their integrity and devotion to duty.
Permanent Member I of the Board, Barr. Femi Odufowoka, described Alhaji Abayomi as a man of maturity, integrity and calm leadership. According to him, the auditor’s bridge-building qualities and dependable work ethic contributed significantly to harmony and efficiency across departments.
The Board Secretary, Mr. Olubori Akinleye, also expressed gratitude for the lives and contributions of the retirees, commending their unwavering commitment to accountability and transparency. His remarks were echoed by the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Yemi Bamgbose, who praised both celebrants for their loyal service and dedication to the growth of the Board.
Staff members—from junior workers to senior officials—joined family and friends in showering heartfelt tributes on Alhaji Abayomi, describing him as humble, approachable and supportive. Many noted that his exemplary character left a lasting impact on colleagues at all levels.
Responding on behalf of the two honourees, Alhaji Tajudeen Yusuf expressed profound appreciation to the Board, management and staff for the recognition. He described his career as fulfilling and expressed hope that others would be similarly honoured when their time comes.
The ceremony featured the presentation of gifts, cash and awards to the retirees by Board members, the League of LGEAs Auditors, and the Internal Audit Unit—bringing the celebration to an emotional and memorable close.
The event underscored Ogun SUBEB’s tradition of valuing dedication, honouring excellence and recognizing individuals who have contributed meaningfully to the advancement of basic education in the state.
