The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has dismantled a suspected grave-robbing and ritualist network operating in Ipokia Local Government Area, following the arrest of three men allegedly involved in the illicit trade of human skulls.
According to a statement issued by the Corps Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, and signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, during a joint routine patrol by the Anti-Arms Smuggling Unit and the Ipokia Area Command.
Ganzallo explained that officers, acting on intelligence, moved to the Isale Odo area of Ibatefin in Ipokia after receiving reports that several individuals were in possession of human remains. On arrival, operatives reportedly found three men—Alabi Taiwo, Kasimu Amuda, and Adisa Joshua—in possession of a human skull along with items believed to be linked to ritual activity.
During a preliminary investigation, one of the suspects, Alabi Taiwo, allegedly confessed to exhuming the skull of a woman buried near his residence in July 2025. He reportedly stated that he passed it to Adisa Joshua, identified as a herbalist, who intended to sell it to Kasimu Amuda. Amuda allegedly admitted he had been purchasing such items for an agreed sum of ₦50,000, and also named an additional accomplice, identified only as Hamed, said to be a resident of Badagry and currently at large.
Ganzallo confirmed that the suspects and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Idiroko Area Command, for further investigation and possible prosecution. He commended the swift action of the officers involved and expressed gratitude to community members for their cooperation and vigilance.
The Corps, he noted, remains committed to using all available resources to rid the state of criminal activities and safeguard the public.
