The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as the So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly vandalizing high-tension electricity cables in the Oke-Odan area of the state.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, and signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
According to the statement, the suspect, identified simply as Cosmos, an indigene of Benue State working on a farm in the area, was apprehended on November 24, 2025, at about 10 a.m., during a routine joint patrol by officers of the Oke-Odan Division led by SC David Lucas, and the Owode-Yewa Area Command headed by ACC Saka Akeem.
The patrol team reportedly sighted the suspect acting suspiciously along Owo Road at Isagbo Ere. Upon approaching him, officers discovered he was in possession of high-tension cables believed to have been recently removed from installation points.
Commander Ganzallo explained that the suspect, when questioned, confessed to vandalizing the cables. Community witnesses, including the Baale and several residents, also testified to his alleged involvement in previous acts of vandalism within the community.
Items recovered from the suspect included high-tension cables and a handsaw, believed to be his tool of operation.
Ganzallo confirmed that the suspect and the recovered exhibits have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Owode Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and potential prosecution.
The So-Safe Corps reiterated its commitment to partnering with residents and security agencies to curb criminal activities across Ogun State.
