The Kogi State Police Command has dismissed as completely false the circulating reports claiming bandits have invaded Zango, Crusher, and Felele communities in Lokoja.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP William Ovye Aya, described the story as fabricated and aimed solely at creating panic among residents.

Commissioner of Police Naziru Bello Kankarofi warned rumour mongers to immediately desist from spreading such alarming falsehoods, stressing that anyone caught peddling fake news about bandit attacks will be arrested and prosecuted.

He reaffirmed that tactical teams, including Police Mobile Force personnel and Counter-Terrorism Unit operatives, remain deployed across strategic locations in the state capital to guarantee safety.

The CP urged residents to disregard the rumours, continue their normal activities without fear, and promptly report any suspicious movements to the nearest police formation.
