Ogun State, Nigeria – October 13, 2025 – In a significant breakthrough, the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as the So-Safe Corps, has apprehended a 22-year-old male suspect for allegedly stealing an iron burglar proof. The arrest took place during a routine patrol along the busy Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
According to a statement issued by the Commander of the Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, the suspect, identified as Oladeji Abiodun, was caught red-handed at approximately 6:00 AM near Onihale bus stop, directly opposite T Money fueling station. Abiodun, an indigene of Oyo State who has been residing in Owode-Ota, raised suspicion among the patrol team due to his possession of the burglar proof at such an early hour.
During preliminary interrogation, Oladeji confessed to stealing the burglar proof from a construction site located in Imise, Owode-Ota. This confession has shed light on the ongoing issue of theft within the community, particularly targeting properties during the early morning hours when security presence tends to wane.
The operation was spearheaded by the Area Commander, Assistant Commander of Corps (ACC) Sanni David, and his dedicated team. The arrest aligns with intelligence reports indicating that many crimes are committed post-5:00 AM, coinciding with the early retirement of security guards from their night duties. In response to these insights, Dr. Ganzallo has instructed all Zonal and Area Commanders to enhance early morning patrols at strategic locations across Ogun State.
Dr. Ganzallo commended the cooperation between the So-Safe Corps' Intelligence and Investigation Team and the community, underscoring the crucial role of collaborative efforts in combating crime and ensuring public safety. “Effective collaboration between communities and security agencies is essential for maintaining law and order in our state,” he stated.
Following the arrest, the suspect and the recovered burglar proof have been handed over to the Sango Division of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and potential prosecution.
