In a remarkable display of vigilance, the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has successfully apprehended a serial thief and his accomplice following a reported theft case that has shaken the local community. This significant development was announced by the Commander of the Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, through a press statement released by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
The incident unfolded at approximately 8:45 AM on Sunday, September 28, 2025, when the Area Commander of the Mokoloki-Ofada command, ACC Amidu Odetayo, received an urgent report from Alhaji Hassan Salaudeen concerning the theft of farm produce. Salaudeen, a farmer residing in Lukosi, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, reported that his farm had been targeted, leading to the loss of several valuable items.
According to Commander Ganzallo, the primary suspect, Mr. Adeyinka Adewale, allegedly pilfered tubers of yam from Salaudeen's farm and sold them to his accomplice, Mrs. Tawa Akeem, also a resident of Lukosi. In an attempt to evade detection, Akeem took the stolen goods to Mokoloki market the same day, selling them without any negotiation, as per the instructions of Adewale.
Their criminal activities were brought to a halt when law enforcement officers apprehended Akeem at the market. Upon questioning, she promptly confessed to the illegal transaction, revealing that Adewale had indeed sold the stolen goods to her. Authorities recovered three large and three small tubers of yam at the time of her arrest.
Further investigation revealed that the stolen goods amounted to a total of 12 big tubers and 8 small tubers of yam, which had been taken from Salaudeen's farm. Commander Ganzallo disclosed that the suspects had been engaged in this nefarious business for some time, sharing the proceeds from various other stolen goods, including maize, potatoes, bananas, and even a bucket of okra.
The farmer, Alhaji Salaudeen, recounted several previous attempts by Adewale to steal from his farm, asserting that his presence had foiled those efforts. This recent theft marked a troubling escalation in the suspect's criminal undertakings.
In a decisive action, the So-Safe Corps has now turned over the suspects and the recovered stolen items—including six tubers of yam, wraps of fufu, a pack of chicken flavor cubes, cash amounting to 37,900 naira, and Mrs. Tawa’s small itel phone—to the Iro Police Post for further investigation and potential prosecution.
This successful operation underscores the commitment of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps to safeguarding the interests of the local populace and dismantling the networks of crime that threaten community safety.
