Ogun State Comptroller , Nigerian Correctional Service ,NCoS ,Mr Kamarudeen Adesina, says no fewer than 550 inmates across correctional facilities in the state have acquired various academic qualifications and vocational skills between 2024 and 2025.

Mr Adesina made this known in Abeokuta at an award ceremony for officers from various facilities by the African Emerging Leadership, Research and Development Organization.

The Controller explained that over 300 inmates graduated from the National Open University of Nigeria while 250 from the Yewa Central College of Education,Ogun State.

He noted that the achievement highlighted the Nigerian Correctional Service commitment to providing education, vocational training and counseling to promote behavioral change and reintegration into the society.

In a remark, Director of Research at the African Emerging Leadership, Research and Development Organization, Dr Rhuefe Khaese called for closer monitoring of released inmates, noting that while the NCoS excels in reformation, it still lags in effectively reintegrating ex-inmates into society.
