The national president of the Oduduwa Integrity Association has sharply criticized recent statements attributed to political figure Galadima, accusing him of “calling for civil war” and challenging him to explain his position.
In a strongly worded statement, the Oduduwa leader questioned Galadima’s motives and capacity to make such pronouncements, asking where the elder had been during the Nigerian Civil War and describing the remarks as “stupid” and “incoherent.” The association president — who noted Galadima’s age as about 70 — said the comments threatened Nigeria’s sovereignty and were unbecoming of an elder statesman.
The statement also addressed former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, saying he “doesn’t want Nigeria to be on fire,” and argued that Galadima cannot intimidate President Bola Tinubu with what the association called a “voiceless campaign.” It added that many northern leaders, the association believes, recognize President Tinubu’s efforts to revive the economy.
The Oduduwa Integrity Association concluded by warning that if moves to challenge the 1914 amalgamation were pursued through violent means, southerners would respond. The statement said organizers in the Southwest are planning a summit to consider a collective response to what it described as Galadima’s “clamouring call” for civil conflict.
No independent confirmation of the original remarks attributed to Galadima was provided in the association’s release. The allegations have heightened tensions across political and regional lines, and the association said it hopes the planned Southwest summit will clarify and coordinate the South’s response.
