Oduduwa Integrity Association urges former president to resist calls for a third-term run, saying Bola Tinubu is unbeatable.
A former supporter of ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has cautioned him against contesting in the 2027 presidential election, warning that such a move could damage his political legacy.
The warning came from the National President of the Oduduwa Integrity Association, who previously led the Campaign for Transformation Agenda 2015.
Speaking on Jonathan’s potential bid, the association leader said:
“Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, spiritually, you cannot win against Bola Ahmed Tinubu in any election. I was one of your supporters. It is better you hold tenaciously to the national and world leadership qualities you possess, rather than involve yourself in a fruitless journey to contest for president a third time.”
He likened the pursuit of another term to a perilous trap, adding:
“Your story will be like an elephant cajoled to become king in the animal kingdom. At the end, they dig a hole for the elephant, and it falls in and dies. Former president Jonathan, either you like it or not, you can’t compete with Tinubu. All positions you acquired were by destiny, but since you failed in 2015, that destiny stopped.”
The National President/ lewder of Oduduwa Integrity Association, Evang Hon Omotoso Banji further argued that Jonathan is being urged to run by leaders seeking to disrupt the current administration’s progress. He criticized Jonathan’s previous use of incumbency, his administrative record, and political influence, claiming that economic mismanagement and corruption were rampant during his tenure.
He concluded with a direct comparison to the current president:
“Mr former president, Bola Tinubu is a professor in differential and integral calculus in Nigeria’s political firmament. Goodluck Jonathan cannot match him.”
