ABEOKUTA, Ogun State – In a commendable show of leadership, Governor Dapo Abiodun has received praise from multiple quarters, specifically from Alhaji Ismail Adebayo Yisa, a prominent Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, for his commitment to the reconstruction of the Abeokuta-Ifo-Sango-Ota-Lagos expressway.

The reconstruction of this vital federal road, which has seen years of neglect, was officially kicked off by Governor Abiodun on August 23 of last year, with an ambitious timeline set for completion in 18 months. The swift advancement of work on the road has brought relief and satisfaction to motorists and commuters who rely on this crucial transportation artery.

Five construction teams are currently working at multiple points along the road, including Olomore, Midgad/Metroxide, Papanlanto Junction, Owode, and the Toll Gate axis. Significant progress has been made, with earthwork and stone base installation completed, and asphalting currently underway. Additionally, previously failed sections of the road at Brewery, Obada, and Itori Junction up to the Lafarge Cement Factory in Ewekoro have been repaired and reopened, ensuring smoother passage for vehicles.

Alhaji Ismail Adebayo Yisa, popularly known as OMO-ADE, expressed his gratitude and admiration for the governor’s dedication to improving the state’s infrastructure. "This road has been abandoned for so many years," he noted. "I thank God that Governor Dapo Abiodun took the bull by the horns and committed to doing the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta road."

In his remarks, Yisa emphasized Abiodun's promise-keeping ability. "Though it is a federal road, Governor Abiodun said he would complete the road, and he has started it. Our governor is a man of his word, and his word is his bond," he asserted. "I have never witnessed such a governor in the state since my enthronement who says something and achieves it. The giant stride of the governor on this road is still unbelievable."

Yisa further highlighted the emotional connection Governor Abiodun has with the people of Ogun State, stating, "Governor Dapo Abiodun is a man of the people; he feels the people's pain, and the governor is doing fine because he has someone at his back. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been our governor's pillar of support."

Reflecting on the state of the roads when Abiodun assumed office, Yisa described the situation as dire, expressing hope and gratitude for the transformative changes underway. "What he met on the ground when he became the governor was so sad, but today, we thank God that God has revealed Himself."

As construction progresses, residents remain hopeful that the completion of the Abeokuta-Sango road will enhance economic activities and improve accessibility for all who travel this important route, a development that could signal a new era for Ogun State.

Residents of Ogun State and travelers alike eagerly await the completion of this pivotal infrastructure project, which stands as a testament to the administration's commitment to development and infrastructure improvement.
