NDLEA Arrests Widow Using Fake Pregnancy to Smuggle Cocaine

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, a 50-year-old widow and fashion business owner, for attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine.

Ezewuike, who runs Golden Star Creation in Lagos, was arrested on Friday, August 22, 2025, at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, as she tried to transport the drugs to customers in Abuja.According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, Ezewuike concealed the cocaine in a fake pregnancy belly to evade detection.

A follow-up search at her residence in Ago Palace Way, Okota, uncovered 200 grams of a cutting agent used to produce a strain of cocaine.

In her statement, Ezewuike, a mother of one, claimed she inherited the illicit trade from her late husband, who passed away two years ago, despite running her fashion business for 20 years.

In a separate operation, NDLEA officers intercepted 90 parcels of Loud, a cannabis strain weighing 48.6 kilograms, imported from the United States and hidden in three cartons of kitchen sinks at a Lagos courier company on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
